Should IPVM Have A Dark Theme Option?

So with 93% preference for dark theme, will IPVM be offering the same on their web UI?

My browser is a blare of white light from the IPVM page, contrasting with the dark VMS consoles & cli's on other screens.

What does everyone think?

From our side, we haven't really considered it as most news sites are black on white. I checked quite a few when this was mentioned this morning and the darkest anyone got was a fairly light grey.

I weighed in on Festivus. Apparently 8 people agreed with me and none disagreed. 2 just liked GIF file jokes.

I think there should be a dark theme.

I don't think it is necessary.  Isn't it another item to support/keep up to date?

I agree that it is hot white in a controlled environment. I would suggest change as well, even more colors as opposed to White-Black-Blue.

Overall, the principle should be one of individual user choice. Hopefully it's doable by just including a simple color theme library or extension.

Meanwhile, Firefox has a nice add-on that takes any site dark...

Here is what IPVM looks like with an equivalent Chrome plugin (Dark Reader):

I like it. Especially when I just opened up my openpath site. Much easer to read.

I wouldnt go all dark, but i think more pizazz to the design of the site would be good.

I think the site design both forum and article lay out could be improved.  Could take a leaf out of Whirlpool's design.

They used to do their own articles revolving around the Australian internet market when they started around 15 years ago.  They just aggregate now, but I feel that this site could take some helpful design cues from it.  Just my 2c.

Campbell, what do you like about Whirlpool's design? It's very text heavy and compact. I am assuming that?

I like it's compactness.  It feels cleaner to me and easier to read.

Campbell, it's definitely compact. The original IPVideoMarket.info used to be compact like that. One thing we found is that many people see that as boring and too text heavy. I am not saying one view is right or wrong but it appears overall more people like more image / graphic layout.

This was asked again recently and Duc is working on it, see below demo:

At first, I thought I had accidentally changed my browser's color scheme. Glad I saw this thread before wasting 20 min. fuddling with settings. Dark theme looks great!
