Simple question here with regards to which type are best for rooftops that have the "membranes"? Is there a preferred support and if so, why?
My question is just to ensure I'm doing the best/using the best/preferred method. Thanks.

In many cases, I have seen 6" - 10" sections of unistrut clamped to rigid every 3 or 4 feet. Not sure if it performs 'best', but it keeps runs in place without penetrating the membrane.
I think this is what you are looking for.
Yes it is but I'm just wondering if there is something better, and less expensive.
Here's an example of an integrator who took the less expensive route - they are just using blocks of wood laying on the surface of the roof.
If you are looking to go the less expensive route I can recommend:
Both of the above recommendations require a stiff conduit and some weight (EMT, rigid) to hold the blocks in place since they are so lightweight. I do not recommend mounting flexible conduit or the wire directly to these as they would blow away.
Neither are better than the above recommendation but they are less expensive and provide the same function.
If the cable is outdoor rated and the conduit isn't run yet, you might consider these type:
