Reddit User Installs Security System In Hidden Closet

This is pretty cool. A user shared the process of wiring his house up with an alarm system, cameras, and a data network, all hidden behind a bookshelf that locks in place when the alarm is armed.

The photos show the process of wiring up the house. A lot of users point out what a sloppy job the guy did, but I say it's not bad for a first timer. At least he knows that wired alarm sensors are inherently more reliable than wireless alarm sensors.

You won't be able to comment, as the thread is locked (the discussion went off the rails pretty quick), but it's kind of interesting to see the decision making process of an obviously intelligent but ignorant security consumer.

It kinda of looks like he has no way of releasing that maglock if the alarm system is armed. Let's hope he never gets locked out of his system and has to try and power it down!

Or maybe he did include another release, that he did not post. Otherwise seems like he did a decent job. Cut A LOT of HUGE holes in his wall to run a single cable, but hey it's his house, and he fixed it after.

His username is timekillerjay, so he probably did not mind patching so much.

Now, imagine home run wiring each door, window security screen (both sides opened) and other peripherals on this home in comparison.

It was as around 90 runs as I recall and all concealed except in the main panel closet.

Oh, Eric Wright supervised
