Recent Safari V12 Update Killed Hikvision Plug In. Any Other Options?

Have a school district loaded with HIK NVR/DVR's and Macs running Safari for the staff to view.  (they prefer browser access vs VMS client, for ease of management).

Got a call yesterday that they can no longer see video, apparently due to a Safari update.  A quick googling reveals chatter discussing the same issue on Reddit and Ipcamtalk, but no real solution.  V12 update just came out and apparently killed NPAPI and non Apple Store plug ins.

Anyone else experience this or have a workaround solution short of installing IVMS?

Have you tried updating the NVR's to the very latest firmware. The latest firmware requires no plugins

Sean have not, as I've just discovered this issue.  FW was current when we did a bunch of HD-TVI upgrades in March.  Do you know if this applies to the Turbo DVR's as well?  I would guess the district is 80% Turbo and 20% IP NVR's.

The district had a large amount of SD Analog DVR's and cameras about 10 years old. A couple of years ago we made the decision to go IP only on all new installs for them, but replace any failing analog cameras with HD-TVI cameras with dual SD streams.  Finally in March they swapped all of the old SD DVR's with the Turbo DS-7216HUHI-F2/N models which I believe were the newest technology.

Im sure they have or will rollout the firmware to all devices soon. We just got ours for the OEM side of things a few days ago for a particular series of NVR's. The branded side should already have them. As far as the HD-TVI DVR's, im not sure if its available. The FW version we had for the NVR is 4.1. You may check with Hik USA to see if they have it yet. Other than that, you can use iVMS.

Do you mean iOS v12?  I'll update the title if so.

Brian it might be, I have no idea as I am not an Appleite.  The links I posted described it as a Safari update I believe.

You have it right.  Apple just released an iOS 12 update too and several have mentioned problems with that too, so I was doublechecking!
