As a QEMU user, an article from Kaspersky Labs caught my interest, as this is something I've never heard of before, apparently Kaspersky too.

QEMU is a free emulator and hypervisor that allows you to run other operating systems as guests on a computer, allowing different architectures to be emulated. For example, the emulator can run an ARM-based operating system on an Intel-based host computer.
