Predictive policing software by Geolitica, which was recently bought by Shotspotter/Soundthinking, has a "low success rate" for predicting where crimes happen.

According to an analysis published by WIRED / The Markup:

** ******** **,*** *********** ********* ** Geolitica ******* ***. ** ** ***. 18, **** *** *** ********** ****** Department (**). **** ********** ** ******** from *** *******’* ********* ********* **** one **** ** ***** *** ****** to ***** ** * ******** *** patrolled ** ********** **. ** *** end, ***success **** *** **** **** **** * *******. Fewer than 100 of the predictions lined up with a crime in the predicted category, that was also later reported to police. [emphasis added]
