Outdoor PIR For CCTV Activation?

I couldn't find any posts/articles here regarding the outdoor PIRs, so I'm starting this discussion.

What do you use to trip the cameras? I don't want to rely on a pixel color change or CCTV analytics, as it's still not that reliable as PIR technology. I use the Optex SIP series, which is great but very expensive, so I'm looking for a cheaper alternative. For short distances (up to 15m/50ft) I can go with Bosch OD850 or Optex HX series. But what to use for 50-150ft? I just googled and found Interlogix DL600 which is around $100. The price looks very attractive, but I was not able to find any reviews or field tests: https://static.interlogix.com/library/74941_wired_outdoor_dual_tech_pir_detector_ds.pdf

Could anyone suggest a reliable outdoor solution?

Gjd (www.gjd.co.uk) and the interlogix one are both decent. Be mindful though to check the rear cable grommets as they are rubbish. I suggest sealing with silicone / acrylic. I’ve seen a few interlogix detectors turn into an aquarium

it doesn't look like they sell Gjd in Canada. I'll try interlogix, thank you!

If you use these make sure you buy the audible piezo for walk testing and set up.

Good Luck!

it's $1k for 100x10 ft coverage. Optex is way cheaper and I'm looking for a solution to replace the expensive optex :)

Check out Optex. They work really well, a few of the models you can put wireless transmitters in and go wireless straight to the camera where you have inputs and a receiver. Just need to get power there for the receiver.

that was the point of my post, to find a cheaper alternative to Optex :)

I know they make really good sensors, I have installed several and I'm happy with Optex. Just expensive for my typical budget.

Have you looked at the FitLink ones? I can't remember the price but they're a new line and they're lower cost than the older ones.

it looks like an old name, they don't have this one on the website anymore. Optex has a gap between affordable LX/HX series for the distances up to 50ft and expensive SIP for 100+ ft. There's nothing in a mid-price range for 50-150 ft coverage.

I'll buy that Interlogix one and test it. $100 for 100*80ft sounds like a steal.
