Operating Room - Surgeon Head Mounted Camera

We have a project that we are looking at for a hospital OR.  They want a Head mounted camera that will stream wireless to 3 viewing stations.  I've seen head mounted cameras that record locally on a pack they wear, they do not want that.

Based on my research I've seen some China companies that look good but it's impossible to get in contact with them or get a demo unit.  Hoping to maybe see a solution at ISC West.

Your input is appreciated.

Since it sounds like you don’t need to interface with a VMS, why not just use a GoPro 7?

They have numerous head mounting options, can live stream, and can record 4K 60fps locally for under $500.

I've looked into those and they look to bulky, no?  I'll check back out the current specs now.  If they wanted to review the footage I suppose they can just plug in or I can have where ever the live stream is being viewed have a screen recorder recording into a VMS....

Thank you!

I can actually use the RTMP stream to pull it into any VMS and record it and view it in real time.  That's a major home run.

Ryan,

You may want to check on any special certifications that may be required for equipment used in an operating room. Anything used will also likely need to be capable of being sterilized using approved methods.

This is why Mr. Silva gets the big bucks :)

I have to wonder about anything that transmits wirelessly as well.  Maybe not.  I mean, on Greys Anatomy they dance during surgery.

Agreed and that was my next step.

Is there an equipment boom that the camera can be mounted to so you will not need to deal with issues that arise from a mobile camera? Network drops would be readily available in a boom if you did want hardwired, or you could at least get POE power even if you wanted to stay with wireless transmission. Also, there are OR video integration companies (not a regular integrator that most of us think of) that provide everything needed for video, still pictures.... in interventional rooms.

Thanks for the reply’s everyone!

Does anyone know if any company regarding this vertical will be attending ISC West?

The RFP calls for 3 fixed cameras and one mobile wireless camera with the ability to remote stream to 3 workstations from the OR.  Fixed of course I’m not worried about.
