NVR Tech Specs Recommendation?

Following up on my original thread (https://ipvm.com/forums/video-surveillance/topics/recommendations-for-a-gym-surveillance-system), I have all my cameras and DW licenses.  Now is time to get the NVR and set it all up.  I'll be doing 40 recorded streams @ 720p and will probably produce 1TB/day which is enough for 7+ days of archive.  Anything longer than shouldn't be necessary.

Based upon suggestions, I'm thinking Dell T30 (Intel Xeon E3-1225 v5 3.3GHz Quad Core| 8GB RAM) with 256GB SSD Ubuntu OS and then 3 x 4TB HDD for recording.  All this would be about $1K which is my ballpark remaining budget.  I'm skipping RAID due to cost -- if a HDD fails, so be it until it is replaced.

Input/thoughts?  Is there a better way or am I being dumb somewhere?

Side question - can DW handle 3 different individual HDDs as archive destinations?  I'm assuming yes.

DW Spectrum can handle different hard drives with no problem. Your original thread was asking for high res but only recording at 720p? I would just drop the frame rate and go as high as the camera allows as far as resolution. Make sure you are going with surveillance hard drives (something like WD Purple, Seagate SkyHawk, etc) for your storage.

FYI - DW Spectrum will only run on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, I know that 18.04 is out but it does not work on 18.04 (I've already confirmed it - although I didn't spend much time troubleshooting just yet).

Thanks for the info ... not sure why I said 720p.  Highest resolution makes more sense -- I was thinking more about framerate and such.  I will have to fiddle with the numbers obviously.
