Looking For New Documentation On Migrating Milestone Management Server To New Hardware

I am looking for a document that outlines the proper procedure to migrate a Milestone Corporate 2018 R1 Configuration/Database from one Management Server to a replacement.  I have found some old docs but nothing
current.  Any suggestions?  Any assistance will be greatly appreciated!  Thanks.

The process of moving to a new management server hasn't changed much (if at all) in a long time, so whatever docs you're referencing may still be applicable. Here's a KB which still applies: https://supportcommunity.milestonesys.com/SCRedir?art=000003464&lang=en_US

Of course there can be any number of complications that might change the process slightly, like if the two systems need to have different hostnames, or if the SQL database is local and the current software version is not compatible with the OS version on the new server, and the new software version is not compatible with the OS on the old server.

The Administrator's manual for XProtect Corporate also covers this starting on page 416. If your situation is a bit more complex though, we should be able to help. Have you already contacted our support team?

If you're unable to use the configuration backup/restore functionality because the hostnames must be different or the software versions are mutually incompatible with the OS versions on the two servers, you can do your configuration backup from the original server, rename the .CNF file to a .ZIP extension, and use the SQL backup file (Surveillance.bak) inside to restore the database to a manually installed SQL Server instance on the new server. Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio makes this (relatively) easy. With the old database restored on the new server, you could then install the new software version and the database schema will be updated as a part of the installation process.
