I am looking for a solution for a small office. One camera to overlook the front door, see who is at the door etc.
Normally I would never do this, too small of a project but this person is a key contact, etc etc

Get an Aiphone intercom system and call it a day.
Any suggestions on which line? I was just on the site and looks like the JO series is pretty cost effective, and the KB series adds the ability to release a door.
Do these allow them to see video anytime or just when someone rings the bell?
Axis SIP intercom with SIP video phone. The SIP intercom is a standard Axis IP camera so you can live to stream it to any computer or decoder. Gives you lots of flexibility.
I installed an AiPhone KB system recently... very straightforward, works great.
The JO line also does door release, and you can get an all-in-one package with the door station and desk station.
As others have mentioned a video intercom would work for your application.
I have had success with AiPhone and Comelit in the past.
