Design Researcher At Microsoft Looking For Integrators To Participate In A Research Project About Video Surveillance In Research

Hello,

Hope everyone is doing great. I'm currently looking for integrators that would be willing to participate in a research project. We will be conducting phone interviews and surveys. If you are interested in participating, please let me know, and I'll be happy to share more details by email.

Thanks

Adolfo, since you are doing a research project, can you elaborate on what you are researching?

Hey John! For sure, I'm a design researcher at Microsoft and I'm currently trying to understand the use of video surveillance technology in retail. Some of my goals is to learn from integrators what kind of video surveillance cameras are they currently installing at stores, how does the configurations change by retail space type/sections and the current use of surveillance systems, etc.

I would love to explain more by email or a phone call if you would like.

Thank you,

Adolfo, have you inquired within Microsoft's own security team that currently design's and deploys your Microsoft retail store outlets? Looking for fresh minds and ideas?

Hey!, Yes I have already inquired Microsoft resources, so I'm currently trying to get more fresh perspectives. Would you be willing to participate? Thanks for the response.

My only suggestion would be to add human assisted robot that has these concept functions:

- Multiple Onboard Cameras for security, navigation and streaming sessions to the sales team and HR or anyone else/group.

-Video & Audio analytics - Video: Security, Consumer Interaction/Facial Recognition. Audio: Security, ability to segment and record multiple live conversations within the space. Perhaps an audio microphone mesh throughout the store.

-Customers that elect to have their Microsoft Account in a Symbiotic mode will/can be enrolled in a facial recognition database so the human assist can speak directly by name and assist with the sale, return or occupy the interest of the customer. Yes people talking to robots and humans inside the robot.

-The robot can also take transaction payments, assist with warranty and digital licenses for wares procured by the customer base.

-The facial recognition is two factor, those that are enrolled, recognized also appear at the operators terminal, so for employees and customers there is a software check(video analytics, biometrics or integrated card reader/BLE) and human verification by account pop up on said operator's terminal. On the back end, any person unknown that enter the store multiple times in a day/week or other set interval can trigger alerts for suspicion, or simply that they have returned to look at product at timestamp 1, timestamp 2 etc. All the cameras work synergistically to accomplish all the technological goals of the retail space and or all combined spaces for data comparisons, people interaction, sales and of course security.

-Robots can review inventory in the retail front and take nightly inventory stock of the back area QR code, RFID etc. Also assist with FEDEX/UPS delivery times, high values and receiving employee interactions and staging of product. Track the entire store and yet still play back a video of Russell Wilson throwing the latest touchdown on a video wall when it sees a person wearing Seahawks clothing, savvy interactions.

-The human assist robots could also consist of a community of sales experts, HR, product strategists and psychologists to evaluate live transactions, interactions and many other data from the standard store ceiling mounted cameras to social media. Human assists would in turn work alongside the operator(employee) while navigating and interacting with the retail space. I am sure there are some customers that would like to take a selfie with a Microsoft robot if points were given, then posted to Instagram, twitter etc.

-Last but not least, red team application. Use imagination here.

Conceptually I think a robot with a human assisted operator such as Cobalt is where to start. I am not affiliated with cobalt and they are no where near close to the above suggestions. There may be other providers and IPVM may have a report just for that.

Am I way off base? Good Luck!
