Looking For Information On UTC Remote Arming Station

Team,

I'm putting together a proposal for 30 door system and requested my UTC local dealer to help with the design of the solution. I've used ATS2099 panel and ATS1170 before in another site and would say the solution was quite stable and would not mind using it again on this particular situation. However, going through UTC site, I'm not sure why my dealer loves quoting ATS1170 which is a single door controller instead of the 4-door controllers like ATS1250, as I'm looking to implement Reader IN/OUT on each door for the 30 doors. May I request anyone with literature or knowledge with reference resources to help me understand this design. Also would be interested in understanding when to use DGPs & RAS.

Thanks in advance good people.

Don't take this as flippant - but you ask them?

Some think of potential failure points as a deciding factor between single vs multidoor controllers.

If a multidoor controller goes down, it potentially impacts four doors, but if a single door controller goes down, only that particular door is impacted.

However, your dealer may be increasing their potential quoted price by quoting singles vs multidoor controllers.

Can you ask them to quote you both options to compare?

Also would be interested in understanding when to use DGPs & RAS.

These are the controller series?

A few points from the top of my head, will read in more tomorrow and come back :

- there is a system limit for 15 DGP and 16 RAS per control panel. In order to dance around that with your system you use DGPs ( ATS 1250-1251, also see below ) and/or RAS

- you can use UTC readers on the ATS bus ( they would be RASes if you don't connect them to a ATS 1251/3 ) or you can use generic Wiegand readers like HID ( they would be DGP on the ATS1250 or RAS on the ATS1270 )

- within those limits and also Access functionality needed - I think ATS125x  has more advanced access functions than the control panel itself - you design the system to meet also the size and the topology. If possible I used their own readers on the bus as that was bidirectional and a bit encrypted so there was a bit of security between reader and system.

I found that picture which details the Access part of ATS , though it is a bit old ~2007 , but it is a pdf an I can't attach it. If you need more , pm me or get the email from my profile, I did quite a few systems with ATS back in the day
