Looking For Information On Aviligion Software Support Cost

Avigilon does not have traditional software support costs in terms of either receiving technical support or "revision" upgrades to their system. If you buy the products, you get support on them. If they release a revision from, for example, 6.1 to 6.2, you receive that upgrade.

What they do have is an upgrade plan where you pay a small fee per-camera for "whole number" upgrades. For example, from ACC5 to ACC6, customers were required to pay an upgrade fee. I do not recall the exact numbers per camera, but they are fairly minimal in the grand scheme (by my estimation, anyways).

Avigilon, overall, is an "expensive" platform overall when compared to most others, but this is definitely one of those things that makes them much more competitive from a cost standpoint in the long term.

U#2 is correct concerning that there are no traditional software support plans, as Milestone, Genetec, and others offer.  We've also had customers that have installed V5 and were relatively new installations when V6 came out; those clients received the V6 software upgrade for no charge.

"Expensive" is pretty subjective and depends on the comparison I believe.  It's always important to understand the total cost of ownership over a period of time, say, 5-7 years.  That can put things in a clearer perspective.

Having said all that, I'm not seeing Avigilon being 'expensive' when compared to systems with similar capabilities.  You'll never get to a true apples-to-apples at the higher end, IMO.
