Looking For Advice, Need A Wall Mounted Flush Mounted Dome

Here is a list of needs and wishes of the camera that we need for a project coming up soon:

REQUIRED:

IP68/IK10 Rated Vandal Dome

Super low light (Lightcatcher, Darkfighter, etc)

Varifocal preferred, or around 8mm lens (40 degree HAOV)

Flush wall mount included or via optional housing accessory, should have NPT conduit K/O for pre-construction install with conduit

ONVIF/DW Spectrum compatible

Reasonably priced ($800 or less)

Everything I can find that mentions flush mount is intended for ceiling mounting. We need to be assured that wall mounting is supported too. This project does not allow anything mounted to the ceiling. We can only mount on one wall that will be similar to 5/8” drywall board.

Also, most flush mount accessories I have found are just a trim ring for the most part. We would like something that electricians can connect conduit to directly. This is easy with surface mounting, but not so easy with flush mounts.

This wall will only have 6-8” of space behind it to hide mechanicals running through the area. We have been assured that most of these conduits and ducts will be mounted low and won’t obstruct our mounting locations from behind. Due to the limited access to behind the camera, we need conduit directly to the camera.

It would also be helpful if the backbox had brackets to attach to a vertical stud, but I doubt this likely to be found. More likely we would find a way to attach to a tile bridge type of bracket and hope to adapt that to studs.

Google showed me this.

Channel Vision 6525-B.

Only lacks the darkfighter, lightfinder, varifocal preference and the 8mm lens.

Perhaps you can add IR and settle with fixed?

Just to clarify, do you mean flush mount or recessed mount?

Will the conduit attach to the camera from the side or back?

Is IP68 a must? Will IP67 or IP6K9K work?

I don’t know the differentiation between the two terms, flush vs recessed. They are the same to me.

As far as IP6X is fine but IK10 is a must. These will be wall mounted 7’ above grade with thousands of public passing daily.

Out of curiosity, is the wall recessed mount mandated by the customer?

The ceiling is only 7’ and code requires NOTHING to be mounted to it. It was grandfathered in via a variance to the code that already prohibits such low ceilings.

The Axis Recess Mount might work.  It has conduit holes and it is designed for Axis vandal domes. Doesn't look like you could mount this with a vertical stud but it looks like from this pic there is a way to support it from the back/top.

Michael,

What’s your thoughts on wall mounting a ceiling device? Should there be any concern there? I honestly have no idea, so I’m asking to be sure.

Long as the material that it is getting installed in is strong enough I don't see any issues.  I really like the idea of getting the support behind it.  Will this have to deal with rain?

No, it’s an indoor tunnel, but moisture is still in the air. Not running water is likely. The walls will likely be a composite of fiberglass and some other organic materials. They haven’t settled 100% on the wall product yet, but it will be durable and mold resistant.

I was going to recommend the Axis Q3515-LVE (IP66, IP67, IP6K9K, IK10+) with the T94M02L but it’s not designed to mount vertically.
