Legal And Philosophical Considerations Of Stairwell Cameras

I am researching the legal and philosophical considerations of stairwell cameras. We have over 2000 cameras in our environment with ~20 percent of them in stairwells. All new buildings have had stairwell cameras installed.

Our campus police intend to reduce overall camera count by 20 percent so one obvious way is to remove stairwell cams many of which (LO RES analog) are in need of replacement if they are to remain. Personally I feel that stairwell cams are an important crime prevention and investigation tool.
