What options are on the market for LED street lights with cameras installed in them? I know there was one or two with Mobotix cameras in them but I am not sure if they are still in business.
LED Street Lights With Built In Camera Options?
Hi Mike -
Our VP of Sales will reach out to you. We have a solution that might be of interest to you.
Lynn -
Can you post some specifics of your proposed solution here? It is on-topic and relevant, and would potentially be beneficial to others interested in the same thing.
The SW24 StreetWatch solution can be implemented as a turnkey product, or as a retrofit to an ordinary city light fixture. It can be configured a number ways with various sensors, such as two 180-degree cameras for 360 coverage, speakers for streaming audio, microphone for audio analytics, edge-based analytics, Bluetooth and WiFi sniffing, mass notification for pre-recorded audio or live announcements, gun shot detection, hazardous material sensors, car/people counting, motion & facial recognition, parking services, weather and atmospheric monitoring, and more.
Lynn,
Thanks for the info. That is an impressive amount of tech on one pole. Unfortunately, we are looking more for a "cobra head" style light but I will keep this in mind moving forward.
My pleasure Michael, every pole can be customized to include or not include the technologies described. Please let me know if you need more data.
Hey Mike,
We are only a few weeks away from introducing our Auglle LITE solution. With our sister company GreenStar LED, www.GreenStarLED.com, we have integrated an IP camera into the actual LED luminaire. We are using a 2mp, 2.8mm or 6.0mm lens IP camera. We have multiple luminaire options for roadways, highways, parking lots. There are some additional features of the camera that will make it unique and unlike anything else in the market. I will be happy to email you directly and provide you with information.
Hi Michael,
Lots to consider here regarding an integrated solution: I have found over many deployments where hard integration of a technology (like cameras into streetlights) is used that the experience can result in unforeseen problems down the road. Issues like maintenance, upgrade, replacement and etc become a much bigger challenge as well as being locked into a potentially proprietary technology. Cost can also be a potential issue due to narrowing the field of options.
We do integrate camera into lighting standards but generally recommend the use of an external control housing & cameras which is powered by the street light.
I would recommend considering this: outdoor weatherproof equipment enclosure with internal power/communications/network/nvr to give you complete flexibility. These would be mounted on the same poles and powered by the lighting standard. I have a range of solutions here that I can recommend if this is of interest.
Another consideration is going to be the street light power; many city wide and new installations are centrally controlled via photosensors or other means. This typically results in power being lost to the light itself during daytime hours. For our Law Enforcement clients we have designed an inline day/night UPS solution to this problem which is specifically optimized for this type of application. Again if that is of any use or you run into that type of challenge I'm happy to provide as much detail as you would like or provide recommendations.
Thanks!
Chris
There is a small company in Baltimore called Halorion that does this. I used them several years ago.
