Is This For Real? Patent Against Recording Security Video
Blame the US patent office for lack of due diligence on this and hudreds if not thousands of other patents around video recording, storage, anlytics, POS interfaces and on and on. This one is partcularly laughable. But don't worry, the patent troll will get something out of it since it costs a lot more to have the lawyers fight these things then it does to mail a check for a couple of hundred grand.

Yes, totally for real, from the same folks behind: Surveillance End Users Getting Sued
Difference is that the patent you cite above is extremely broad yet is from 1999, a time when many systems already existed in practice, making enforcement more challenging.
