Recent deep-dive research suggests ADT will continue to offer industrywide leadership, following the spinoff of their big Commercial Group.
First… we identify the big Industry-wide “problem”, impacting most of the existing 25,000,000(+) deterrent systems throughout North America, including about 5,000,000 of ADT residential customers with basic “deterrent” type RMR systems. As often reported at IPVM, Police departments all across North America are treating most calls from all alarm monitoring firms, not just ADT, as nuisance/ false alarms, ie low or no priority, for slow or no police response. EXCEPTION with Special Priority…the 5% “remote-witnessed threats to people and property”, known as VR/Verified Response, will continue to get high priority police response, without citizen fines/fees. The justification for slow or no PD response… over 95% of calls from monitoring firms are false alarms that represent 10-25% of police budgets, and overloading the 9.1.1 system….unstainable. However, police response to the alarm-site is still a core customer expectation, even when their system is activated for unknown reasons… thus the specter of deceptive business practices. Same industry wide. We believe a next-gen business model, focused on VR as its core, is required, fast, to avoid record levels of attrition, or worse.
