IPVM Calculator - Is It Secure?

Hey guys,

Just wanted to know the community opinion on using the calculator for the real projects. We all understand that any IT system can be hacked, and I'd like to keep the real CCTV coverage out of the clouds.

I played with the calculator, made some planning, but I'm not sure if I want to expose the real project to someone outside of my security group. There's a thing "add floor plan" and I was thinking about using a screenshot from googlemaps so the real location will not be disclosed.

Do you use the calculator for your CCTV projects? If yes, what makes you confident that your data is safe? Do you think IPVM will notify the users right away in case of a data breach?

IPVM

Dennis, I would say if you are doing secure facilities (e.g., government, military, other highly sensitive projects), and are concerned about the risk, do not use a cloud service, including IPVM.

That's not to say we don't take security seriously but I believe you can better secure your plans keeping them locally.

Alternatively, as you suggested with adding a floorplan, you could switch to blank mode and then add a screenshot and put cameras on top of that if you want to obscure where in the world your cameras are.
