hi

i have enabled active tracking on my uniview IPC6252SR PTZ and it seems to be chasing shadows constantly. there is an option in uniview to enable this but it still does it.

the option in the menu is "filter repeated option mode" the description says "ignore same repeated action in smart detection"

anyone have more experience with this ?

is it constantly chasing the same shadow, or just any shadow?

no one uses uniview ? anyways i found the algorithm for the intrusion detection and the auto tracking to be very poor. not sure if anyone else can offer advise on how to improve it or if a 3rd party NVR can allow me to achieve better results with these cameras ?

1) the area where the kids enter is an intrusion area.

2) autotracking enabled - follows target for a bit and then moves away. there is not setting available in auto tracking to specify the time limit to track. according to what i see online it locks onto a target and then tracks for a while till out of view. this does it partially

3) autotracking - finds a target, then goes to location i suppose where target was previously

4) autotracking enabled - zooms to nothing and when a target moves in range or area it doesnt follow through

5) autotracking enabled - zooms in then out

Faheem, sorry that we have not been more helpful. Generally, we see Uniview used less. For those wanting low-cost, Dahua and Hikvision are most common. For those wanting premium pricing, Axis, Avigilon, etc. are more commonly used.

"seems to be chasing shadows constantly"

Generally, those tracking algorithms have problems. For example, look how poorly Uniview's VMD / analytics did in IPVM testing. Those algorithms tend to be 'dumb' and have little 'sense' about the difference between a shadow and a person.

Like John was subtly saying, you get what you pay for.

Lol, though to qualify, not sure who has a PTZ with highly accurate PTZ tracking. Based on our extensive testing of Axis analytics (but not their PTZ tracking), I would be skeptical but we have not formally tested any PTZ tracking since they generally work poorly and, related, don't have a lot of demand.
