Hi All, I am looking for a solution for IP camera on site but to view from near by location. Not more then 50 meter distance. Covert. The camera would not be connected to any network only to receiving station, laptop. My concern is which solution do I use for wireless transmission from camera to laptop?

Depends how much space you have to work with at the camera and makeup of the concealment location.

Personally had VERY good sucess using an Axis P1264 ($500), acheived wireless by getting a cheep router ($50) and setting up a hidden network, adding signal boosters or relay routers as required.

Just connected my iPad to the hidden network whenever I wanted to review footage on the SD.

Went this route since I needed at minimum one cable to the camera for power as I didn't know how long it'd have it deployed, this was POE.

Thanks I see this work out in my case. I only need to make sure it is all compact and easily deployed.

I remember that in one of the expo's I saw one company selling the complete set in the suitcase for a temporary deployment, few days.

I am interested in a professional solutions and available once. Professional one, would take some time to purchase.

So you have easily accessible power at the remote site?

Hello

This is no problem for a simple 802.11 wireless connection, though you may want to look for something that gives you options in terms of frequencies and/or look at more powerful onboard radios (for instance 1000mW).  These can help you deal with signal saturation and propogation issues. Hiding SSID and adding encryption will help secure the link.

One thing to remember is that it's not just about transmit from the camera, but also the power of your client device and its ability to talk back with an equally powerful radio.  To avoid issues on that end, you may want to consider dedicated 802.11 hardware (dongle, standalone AP, etc). Otherwise you have to rely on low power integrated chipsets found in most current portable computing devices, and those may not be able to give the performance you'll need.

Also it's a good idea to add some type of local storage (SD card at least or full blown NVR) for 100% assured evidence capture.

Thanks Chris,

Since it would be short usage of the system I might go with the solution that you and UEU 3 suggested. Camera with the router and POE adapter and then have sd card as storage. Also I can park close to download the footage.

Does anybody know the professional wireless CCTV or VSS portable kit?

I used this before with a PoE switch so I could move things around easily during demos.

Ganz wireless

I suggest the Ganz wireless monitoring device.provides PoE so you can   Mount this to get best signal and then you have up to 90 meters to run cat 5 cable to a camera. You can then look for the wireless from it on a laptop or iPad and use a browser to access the camera. Ganz also has a pinhole camera that can be very covert as well.
