I run a small shop and one of my techs asked recently if he got injured on the job, how we would cover his expenses or time off. I am not sure how to handle this. Anyone can help with suggestions?
Integrators, What Type Of Disability Insurance Do I Need To Offer?
Get with your insurance agent that has insurance that covers your business. Either they will offer it or will steer you in the right direction of an agent that does. This would be for long term or short term. If your tech is an employee and receiving a W-2 then you should already be paying for workman's comp through the state. Of course this is just for the injury and not time off.

AFLAC?
Insurance is a huge issue for most small businesses, including us. Are you already offering health insurance? I would think that would be more important than disability insurance.
Workers comp should pay for their medical bills and a portion of time off. It is a percentage 2/3 I think and it is capped I believe.
Do you at least have WC? I think some states allow you to have so many employees before they require it.
