How To Find IP Addresses On IP Cams On A Network?

Hello,

New here, first post.

I have contractors installing 100+ cameras. Things could of went better. Some cameras were not set with proper IP address, some cams were left in default, some had wrong subnet, some set with 1 digit off according setup guide. So I have to go in to do the troubleshooting. I am looking for faster process.

My question is: What do you use to see what IP address the camera has? Going to the physical camera is not an option. I have been using wireshark, still learning how to use it though.

Thank you,

Dean

Dean, welcome!

Generic / non-manufacturer specific ones like Angry IP Scanner or Advanced IP Scanner are commonly recommended, e.g., see this discussion IP Camera Generic Discovery Tool

Then each manufacturer has their own tool - see: Directory of 40 IP Camera Manufacturer Discovery Tools

Have you made final payment on the project? If not, hold payment until the project is complete.

Hard to understand how any integrator doing 100+ cameras cant even program cameras properly.

I would use the camera vendors discovery tool which will see any of their own cams even if configured on a different IP subnet.

At which point you could match a laptop with the discovered IP and repair the mistake.

Repeat as needed.

Next is to figure out a way to charge them for a royal screw-up or do as Jay suggested.
