Hikvision Changing North American Part Numbers: What Do You Think?

We noticed a few days ago that Hikvision has launched a lot of new AcuSense models with a new part number structure for North America. Instead of the typical DS-2CDXXXX structure they've used for years.

There are 50+ models with this new scheme, seemingly all in the Performance series (maybe hence the P in PCI-). It's not the first time Hikvision did this. Their Value Express models follow an ECI- scheme, as well.

On the one hand, these part numbers seem easier to decode, with T for turret, D for dome, B for bullet, an F suffix for fixed and Z for zoom, etc.

On the other, this also obscures exactly what overseas models these North American part numbers refer to, and users have simply become used to the DS-2CD2/4/5/6/7 structure.

We've asked Hikvision if there is a guide to the naming structure and a cross reference, as well as why they've made this change, but have gotten no feedback.
