Hikua TVI Cameras?

Does anyone have any feedback about HIKua TVI cameras?  Figuring they aren't a security risk given their lack of IP connectivity, but wanted to get any feedback.  Are there other brands we should look at?

Cheers

If analog, take a look a Hanwha and be safer.

Hikua is a slang term that is the combination of the names of Hikvision and Dahua.

Hikvision cameras use TVI - Dahua cameras don't (they use CVI)

The actual cameras are not a risk.  If the DVR was connected to the network then I agree there is a risk.

IP cameras are not a risk either if you direct connect them to an NVR/pc vms that is not connected to a network.

One could always go with a hybrid HikDog setup:

I agree Michael, and I voted funny :).

To me there is a bigger part of the netwerk that determines the safety, what is going in to the LAN? A local modem with open internet? If that's the case, you need to take more measures for sure. Like any IP device, adding just internet is not safe.

Other than the potential security risk in the recorder, which all systems can have, I am a big fan of the HD over coax. This to me seems so much simpler and less of a headache for service as well. Too bad more manufacturers didn't jump on this then the technology would be far more advanced by now. I never really adopted it because to me it seemed do I choose VHS or Betamax!

IP cameras are great but the service aspect is tiresome at best. I have only installed a couple of the HD systems, for a friend and family member, and so far have been really good. Side note I managed to break a toe installing the one for a friend at his lake house. What a waste of a two week vacation. One was Hanwa and has had no issues and the other was FLIR and we have to reboot the recorder every few weeks to see all the cameras. I have talked to others in the industry and they feel the same way about IP cameras. Too much of a pain in the arse. Some have even said they would rather go back to regular analog. I wouldn't go that far but the HD cameras do have a place in a system, especially when a customer doesn't have a lot of money but a really good "Old" system in place with lots of coax. Makes sense to install the HD cameras instead. I have one customer that is still running a few black and white cameras that are at least 30 years old. When that one goes bad they replace with one they have on the shelf. Fortunately though I have convinced them to replace with a newer hi-res analog.
