Finally We Got Hacked

I felt left out...

We have a client that had an existing Lorex DVR installed, and we didn't do much with it. We set a new IP, log ins etc, and we installed a new Dahua NVR with the new IP cameras we put in. We used Smart PSS to integrate the two systems. The new Dahua was untouched, but the Lorex has "hacked" for camera names.

Is it just coincidence the Dahua did not get hacked, or is it because it had a newer firmware?

We pulled the DVR and will bring it back to the shop. Do we need to be concerned with putting this on our network while we try to upgrade firmware?

Will upgrading firmware bring this device back? I see some firmware on the lorex site, and need to get the model # to see if there is firmware for this model. https://www.lorextechnology.com/support/Firmware I don't see where the firmware is dated to see if we are getting an updated version...

What were the new camera names?

*Edit* I see now, I missed the quotes around hacked...

We had a customer deal with the same thing. They Had an 8 Channel FLIR MPX 8105 DVR (Lorex). We received a call that they couldnt gain access on their Flir App and we rolled a Tech out to the customers site and found that all of the Camera names were changed to HACKED. The network settings were all changed etc. So we renamed the cameras and the network settings The system was acting funny too double clicking on the mouse when typing in the alpha numerical buttons. the fan was really loud when it was never loud before. So after resetting the password and reprogramming it , not 2 hours later the system went all black screens and the camera names said either HACKED or FIRMWARE. the login password changed and now we have no access. Have been going back and forth with Flir/Lorex tech support emails and they havent been much help. they wanted to remote in and look at the logs but obviously could not due to the login. this unit was not even 2 years old.
