Hello readers! We're currently working on a post about this and have done some research.

Here's what we know:

We've been in contact with the Rose Bowl where the facial recognition was used during the concert. They've confirmed that facial recognition was used and stated that facial recognition was a regular solution there and that visitors to the venue are warned at every entrance that "their image might be captured," but not that they were being scanned by a biometric system.

Stories that have been written so far note that concertgoers were in effect lured into allowing their faces to be scanned by the facial rec system without being told they were even on camera, much less that they were being scanned biometrically.

We've reached out to a security consultant cited in a Rolling Stone article who was at the concert and saw the technology working. I've reached out to him on LinkedIn and he accepted my connection request but has been otherwise silent.

Here's what we're missing:

The manufacturer of the video kiosks that are surreptitiously scanning people's faces

We've been unable to find any mention of the company that makes them or any pictures of them on social media, etc.

Does anyone have any additional information they can share?

If so, please feel free to respond here or email me directly at dan@ipvm.com

Thank you!
