Experimental Installation For Firefighter Training Tower

I am currently working with a company that builds firefighter training towers. They are looking into installing a camera system in one of their towers as an experiment. They want to be able to watch the training firefighters as they go through the tower but the catch is that it is filled with smoke and operating fire sprinklers. I know that the water from the sprinklers is not an issue but I think the smoke being generated is. I need to find out if anyone knows what the visibility would be in this situation. The inside of the tower is 8ft x 14ft. I am almost tempted to just temporarily rig up one to see what kind of visibility it will have but that is easier said than done. Their website is www.mobiletrainingtowers.com and it has all the specs. The application would be for both towers they offer but the current project is for the 4 story tower. They sell to just about every agency you could imagine including local, state and federal agencies.

My guess would be if the human eye can not see through the smoke, neither can the camera. Smoke is actual particles.

Maybe some regular cameras combined with some thermal cameras?

Do these have any fire or heat concerns?

No Jay, they do not use heat or fire devices in the tower only smoke and water.

Ever seen the Masterbuilt smokers with a window? Good luck...

FLIR:

We did a test with low cost thermal PTZ’s for a County fire agency at their training center.  They ordered them at a later date connected to a FLIR MPX recorder so it must have gone well.
