Di-Electric Grease In Outdoor Cameras

I ran across an installation recently that had di-electric grease in all of the outdoor camera connections. I've had problems in the past with water penetration, even with the "water tight" connectors and this got me thinking. How many here use di-electric grease in RJ45 connections and what are the pros and cons of using it?
