Community Requests Cameras That Can Notify Security Of Speeders And Reckless Driving

I am involved in a large project for a residential community. Some of the cameras are being installed on poles in the main arteries of the community. They have requested if we can provide a solution where on site security can be notified of speeders and reckless drivers. Can anyone recommend a solution that might be able to accomplish this. The solution would need to be compatible with Dahua cameras if possible.

Currently, it is only for filtering recorded video but Avigilon's UMD might be a great fit for this if/when it is added to live alarms.

Speeding can be easily quantified - which allows for alerting to be tied to exceeding some fixed limit.  If the sign says 25 and you are doing 40, then you are speeding - send an alert.

Reckless driving is a much more subjective thing - and therefore, far less quantifiable.

Since the threshold is undefined, what could you base an alert on?

I agree. For the sake of keeping this simpler. Lets assume speed limit is 20mph and the on site security wants to be notified of anyone going over 35mph. Is there a way that this can be accomplished? Lets not tackle the reckless driving since this can be subjective. Thank you!

AgentVi or Intuvision or similartr analytics?

I take it the residents are known and you would like to send a notice after the fact. So a LPR solution with radar to detect speed would work best. Hikvision have a could solution and generally everything Hik doing Dahua will follow, but you will still need to replace cameras.

However a solution like Briefcam would be easier to implement considering you already have the cameras. Briefcam can take the recorded video and through deep learning will be able to highlight which cars were speeding. Additionally they have a response module which can also give live alerts. Works best with Milestone or Genetec.

I think a radar that has an output of some sort would be the best way to go for speeding. Radar detects speeding, fires off an output which is connected to the camera's input (or another I/O), which connects to the VMS via a rule (Milestone can handle this easily) to do whatever you want - send an email, push notification to your cell phone, pop-up video on screen, etc.

If you needed the reckless driving - assumedly a vehicle moving out of a prescribed "virtual lane", I'd say yeah, a software analytics package like AgentVi.

I like the idea of connecting a radar to the input of a camera, however I am not sure that there is a rule we can create to only send a notification when the speed is over a certain amount. This would require that the server understand the input is a numerical value. I have found some standalone products that can take a picture and overlay the vehicle speed in the image as well as provide a notification for speeding but it is a separate system, not integratred.

The Genetec VMS system has this built in somehow. I know cities use this a lot.

We are gonna hook up these boards to Mobotix cam with LPF filter.

The boards are a great deterrent themselves.
