Cameras Can't See Through Walls So How Do You...

...do a layout on a drawing and edit it to keep camera views to the walls of a room?

1) It looks very cluttered with camera views slopping over into other rooms

2) It can give a false sense of video coverage - I have had to patiently explain to customers that the camera can't see poeple on the outside of the building.

If we had the ability to drag and drop the camera views into trapezoids, etc it would help.

Has anyone found a solution to this?

There are software packages like JVSG that support this feature. What software are you currently using?

I use the calculator in IPVM. For exterior cameras it works great but for interior layouts, especially one with a lot of rooms/offices it creates a view that is hard to interpret. It was hard enough to get our company to invest in IPVM for our offices so I am not sure they would spring for JVSG. I have tried the free demo before and it is great.

That is one advanced feature limitation of the Calculator we have looked at addressing. Unfortunately, any workarounds I have are not ideal/clean looking. We have received this request multiple times and it is noted as a feature to add.

Btw, we have had significant discussions about how to implement it and we are confident that we can add it in. It is in the queue.

Perhaps an option to turn off the lens/FOV portion of the camera and just drop the body into the desired area....

Or perhaps a generic camera model without a lens feature.
