French police seeking to buy 7,000 fingerprint scanners issued specifications that match an existing Idemia fingerprint scanner whose own spec sheet was updated only 2.5 hours beforehand.

French tech outlet NextInpact reported [paywall]:

(*) ******* ******** **** **** ******* XYZ *** *******. **** ****** ** the ******* "one **** ***** *** ****** ** *** ********* ***************", if correct, matches this approach. Here, the product model is not specifically stated but when responding to the technical points, other products can be disqualified for missing feature D or N, etc. This is often debated because some of the features required may be ancillary, maybe Product XYZ is the only that supports Token Ring or RS-232 or weighs less than 2.12 pounds, etc. but these may not actually make a performance difference for the actual application.
