Best VMS For OSX And iOS Users?

We typically use Exacqvision, which has a full version client native to OSX.  What other professional to enterprise level VMS software plays nicely with Mac's?  Bootcamp or Parallels are NOT an option in this case!

I am most certainly biased and highly partial in my recommendation of Nx Witness / DW Spectrum.

I've used DW before, but it has been 10+ years... Wasn't a big fan, but would be willing to demo for this application.  Thanks for the recommendation.  I'll check them out!

Robert, DW 10 years ago was not using Nx Witness.

IF the iOS app is very clean and offers most functionality of the full client, this may be suitable for the application needed.

I'd tend to agree that Nx Witness/DW Spectrum is solid on the Mac client. It works pretty much exactly the same as the Windows client. Exacq has some slight differences/annoyances, but it's overall the same.

Video Insight's VI Monitor for Mac works pretty well, too. Amazingly, that's all the Mac clients I can think of right now...

Did I read somewhere there is an Apple TV app for NX Witness as well?  This could be helpful.

DW Spectrum has an AppleTV app, correct.  I can't speak for the NX Witness product, though...

Hi Robert -

Nothing public but we have a alpha version of Apple TV if you'd like to give it a go.

Regarding the mobile apps - the functionality we have now is live/recorded viewing. We introduced a new home-grown media player into the mobile app in 3.0 beta that reduces latency and allows for live thumbnails. We also plan on adding PTZ control, Fisheye Dewarping, Notifications, Mobile Camera, and more in 2017.

What mobile features are critical for you?

By the way - We just opened up public access to the Nx Witness v3.0 beta (with Nx Cloud, In-Client Webpages, a new mobile app, and more). Signups are available here.

Would love to have feedback from all of ya'll interested.

probably...never, lol. I remain hopeful though.

I have been asking that the day I found out about the software testing with V1.5 when there were still Onvif issues with Dahua cameras. Once these issues were resolved I then had to swallow the fact that I couldn't get the Nx version and had to buy through DW. If DW support even had a ticketing system like Nx has, it would be a great improvement. Last time I checked they didn't. However, Nx support has been pretty good.

Tony, the new interface is nice and clean. I tried updating my Spectrum installation with the beta using the update code as I have done before. It updated and listed my licenses but couldn't activate them. I then went back to the stable version. I'm not sure what happened but that upgrade didn't work very well.

It's good to hear about the app. I've been waiting a few year for the app to have anything close to the thick client. The revised (current) app has nice playback features, but crashes on iOS. That's rather disappointing.

I can't comment on the mobile beta as I didn't request access for that.

We use spectrum a lot. We ran through a lot of VMS's before deciding on them. For me, the big factor was cross platform. We have clients with Apple, Linux, and Windows. NX Witness/Spectrum makes this very easy to provide everyone with the same solution. We also use the Apple TV app as a spot monitor. It's less expensive than a decoder or running a long HDMI cable or Cat5 with baluns. V3 is about to be released from NX I am in beta with them now. It's a game changer! I love it.
