I'm trying to find an official document with FBI or other agencies recommended best practices for video surveillance systems. Specifically resolutions, frame rates, quality settings required. I thought the FBI had done one but I can't find it. Trying to work through balancing all these items with storage, cost and retention of 90 days plus.

Mar 14, 2018Michael, good question.
There's the now really old and outdated FBI one covered here.
The closest official current one I know is DHS VQiPS. They have a Digital Video Quality Handbook that you can review, but it's more of tutorial for novices than real standards.

Mar 14, 2018You can stop looking. There are no FBI standards in the US. There used to be (1968 Bank Act) but they were re-written years ago. The financial institution must provide a means for identification and policy on retention. The policies must be written and documentation provided on the method of enforcement.
