A Scottsdale planning commissioner has accused Axon of trying to pressure him into granting the company's rezoning request that would allow it to build 1,975 apartments and a 425-room hotel on a portion of the land it purchased for a new headquarters.
The commissioner Christian Serena made the allegations in an email to the city attorney which was published on Feb. 19, 2024, by the Arizona Republic. The commission opposed Axon's rezoning request at a hearing, and Serena had cast a sole vote against letting the company "tweak its proposal and return at a later date," according to the newspaper.
