I think reputation is by far the important component here. Back when I was in distribution I used to sell Arecont cameras to an integrator who put them in every school they touched in the mid 2010s. Eventually those cameras started failing and it really hurt the companies reputation and eventually they were on life support as a company. Contrast this with Axis/Hanwha/Avigilon/Bosch, they perform solidly and at this point I would say have a proven industry track record for being reliable with good/great features. While I'm sure they do have some bad batches and supply issues (hi Axis!) they have stood the test of time for a significant period of time that generally speaking you can feel confident standing behind the product.
Why would an integrator take a risk on a large project with anything that doesn't have proven reliability? Oh, and that integrator that put in Arecont I mentioned above? They had to rip and replace all of them at their own cost and I'm fairly certain are now out of business (not necessarily due to this but it was a contributing factor as it wasn't just one school).
