We have a situation where we need to detect people who are climbing over a fence to get into a community pool area to bypass the access control on the gate. It's a fairly high fence about 7ft on high on average, but they still climb over it. Video analytics has not worked. And we don't want to alarm when someone is next to the fence because people can be by the fence for any number of legitimate reasons. It's the act of climbing over the fence we need to alert on, including during normal day hours.
I'm very hesitant to try fence detection because we have not tried it in the past, and from what I remember it wasn't much more reliable but maybe that has changed.
