I like to use Apple products, and I don't mind the "walled garden" tradeoff but - because of ads I am seeing recently - I am beginning to question one of the fundamental justifications for Apple controlling what I can download on my iOS devices: that tight control of the App Store is supposed to keep users safe from bad actors.
