A group of experts in tech, AI, child safety, and ethics, including AI 'godfather' Yoshua Bengio, have signed an open letter calling on governments worldwide to "impose obligations throughout the supply chain to stop the proliferation of deepfakes." Other signatories include 2020 presidential candidate Andrew Yang and Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen.
The letter, titled, "Disrupting the Deepfake Supply Chain," calls on governments to take three steps to combat deepfakes:
