There is a medium- large school district who has just approved a $17M WTMD project to be rolled out to 175 middle and high schools. They are clearly going to tilt the bid to Evolv but state procurement practices require that an RFP process be completed. The political pressure from parents, most board members and others is significant because it seems to be the "best solution" to the problem to those that are not really skilled in such matters. I have seen the security department's presentation and it was all about Evolv without consideration of the ongoing cost of staffing and other issues. I have also witnessed (via YouTube) the Evolv demos at a couple of schools as a "proof of concept" which obviously was successful.

As a supporter of the public school system, I am currently writing a very long letter to the Superintendent and the Board about the use of metal detectors in general and the many issues that also need to be addressed to achieve the desired outcomes. I have also linked some of my commentary to IPVM's posts.
