If you are using Alt A PoE can't even slightly dirty power interfere with the data transmission, or are the two somehow exclusive of each other? (Yeah I'm not a hardcore electronics guy!)
If so, isn't it always preferable to use Alt B if your equipment supports it?
Keep in mind that Gigabit applications combine power and data on the same pairs by default, with no 'alternates', and performance is not affected.
Power and data can coexist on the same conductors with no problems.
