Is Cisco the Lindsay Lohan of Video Surveillance?

To get a sense of the widespread disrespect for Cisco in the security industry, consider the Editor of Security Systems News [link no longer available] recent comment on our FTC article:

"Cisco is the Lindsay Lohan of the industry right now."

He was not even trying to criticize Cisco as the point was made to defend why another trade magazine did an interview with Cisco.

For those who do not know Lindsay Lohan, she is an infamous US actress best known for her numerous public emotional breakdowns and variety of drug and eating problems.

Comparing any company to Lindsay Lohan is pretty much as low as it gets. Worse, this is a common attitude in the physical security industry towards Cisco.

Of course, as we examined with Cisco's recent major videoconferencing purchase, Cisco could turn this around with a single major video surveillance acquisition.
