I need to put a card reader an electronic lock on this gate.  It is a pool fence gate, and I dont want to trench through the deck, so it is going to have to be wireless.  I am going to be using Avigilon ACM for the software and head end hardware, so it will need to be compatible with that. I am pretty new to access control, and have never done used a wireless product, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Avigilon offers at least two types of wireless locks compatible with ACM:  Allegion wireless locks and Assa Abloy.

Both ranges offer outdoor rated models suitable for a pool gate, although the specifics need vary based on the gate design.  Is the pool fence full height?  What format of cards are being used?

I just realized my photo didnt upload.  I was looking at the Allegion, but I'm not sure how I would attach that to this kind of gate since there isnt a pocket to drop it in to.  I think it is going to have to be an electric gate latch type lock, with a wireless card reader attached or built in.  I would love to be wrong about that, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Jarad,

To do this right, you are going to need to modify the gate in order to install any type of electronic lock. I would suggest using a Keedex gate box that matches the profile of the electronic lock set that you choose to use. You will also have to install lever guards to prevent someone from reaching over the gate and turning the inside handle. Finally, a gate closer should be added to the gate so that it closes automatically.

Unless you or someone on your team is a skilled welder/metalworker, I would suggest hiring a gate contractor to do the gate modification work for you.

It should go without saying, but also make sure that any type of electronic lock that you choose to use is rated for outdoor use with direct exposure to rain.

Allegion does not have any electronic locks that are rated for exterior electronics.

Their "outdoor" units are only rated for exterior doors that have the electronics mounted on the inside.

STI died have a plastic mount that can be installed over the electronics to help protect it.

As far as I know, no manufacture extept Omnilock and Alarm lock are rated for both sides of the lock to be exterior mounted.
