Who Installs Their Own Ceiling Wire For J-Hooks?

I'm wondering how many companies install their own ceiling wire in suspended ceilings, instead of using the existing ceiling wire, in order to attach cable j-hooks.

If you don't do you ever have inspectors complain?

Are you asking if inspectors complain if you install your own wire, or if you use the existing wire? What would the thought process be for them complaining about using existing ceiling wire for j-hooks? Load limits?

Every piece of equipment is supposed to have it's own wire per code. That would include j hooks as well.

Yes the code is concerned about weight.

Yeah, let's see if anyone has more to offer, but I've not seen the ceiling wire mounts used (vs beam clamp mount) other then in retrofit additions, well after the ceiling was fully installed and inspectors were long gone.

Agree with Ty that per fire code J-hooks need their own support. I've been told by our inspector that this is due to when they are pulling a ceiling grid down to stop a fire that the cabling system wont come down with it. Not sure if this is true or not but makes sense.
