This is an interesting 2-minute video. The net/net is that when someone takes a photo of themselves from up close because of the short distance, facial features closer to the camera (like one's nose) look disproportionately large while features further away (like one's ears) look smaller.
A good reminder of the impact of camera positioning. This is less of an issue in video surveillance, though, given most people are generally at least 5 feet away if not more.
