HD Over Coax Encoders

OK, so I know this is an odd thing, but hear me out.

Client has existing systems, rhymes with ickvision, he hates the integrator. We will not sell equipment from this manufacturer. Systems are split between IP and HD-TVI. I'm not averse to keeping existing equipment where appropriate, I just wouldnt have sold it to him in the first place.

I have a VMS that I would like to use here, but I need some encoding options for the TVI cameras. He has already blown a large part of his budget with the previous vendor, otherwise I would be doing IP on everything to start with. multiple buildings, could be a great customer for us. Unforunately, I wont be able to get him to pay to replace or rewire all the cameras.

Here is the question:

Does anyone have experience with an HD over coax encoder? Onvif or RTSP?

Before I ask anything else, which VMS are you planning to use?

Digital Watchdog. Was trying to avoid yays and nays on the VMS and focus on the encoding issue. DW is going to have a high probability of working with whatever I find with server side motion and keeping cost in check.

That works out pretty well, then. DW's Compressor HD worked pretty well with TVI cameras in our tests, but it's only fully supported by DW (no ONVIF support).

I found this at the same time you posted it. Also found a geovision option. Anyone have experience with either of these? Any others out there?

John, that teat is a huge help. Thanks!

Since Hanwha Wave is also Network Optix OEM, might check to see if Hanwha's new hybrid DVRs might play nice and act as an encoder.

Look at the HRD-1641 TVI up to 2mp.

That model is currently not compatible with WAVE.  The upcoming Wisenet HD+ Encoder models will support WAVE, and accept AHD 4Mp/2Mp, CVT, TVI, & analog.

It is supposed to be released at ISC-W.
