ADA Operator Integration

Our organization is taking on a large access control project over the next five years, expanding access control to building entrances in a campus environment. We use Lenel and Mecury hardware for the head end. Our low-voltage installers are in-house, as is the access control configuration, all within our IT group. Our facilities team uses a mix of our project managers, lock (cores/electrified hardware), electrical (ADA operator integration), and carpentry (general door hardware) shops to divide the remaining tasks. We already have many buildings with access control, but ADA integration is a consistent pain point. Most of our work will be retrofit installs, and only a few facilities will receive new doors.

We do not have a standard integration with ADA operators. Sometimes, our facilities team has outsourced their components, and we can wire the ADA operator with the contractor to ensure compliance without Local I/O or Global I/O programming. Other times, the team has relay modules, like the BR3-X, installed in the header, and we may integrate with it using auxiliary outputs or inputs.
