Axis new dome series is the P33 (see powerpoint deck for overview and video below). This dome offers a fundamentally different design than traditional domes. Specifically the camera module is modular and independent from the housings. This allows the camera module to be installed separately as well as swapped out in the future.

There are 2 options for the camera module: SVGA (800 x 600) and 720p (1280 x 720) resolution.

There are 3 options for the housing: tamper resistant indoors, vandal resistant indoors and tamper resistant outdoors (comes with heater/blower).

Each of the camera modules can be mixed and matched with the housing options. In the future, newer, higher resolution camera modules could be deployed.

The camera modules come with built-in lenses (either 2.5-6mm or 3.3-12mm) that provide automatic focusing and FoV adjustment. This means there is no need for an installer to set the FoV nor focus the camera on-site. Both they can be done remotely.  While the camera can be zoomed in or out to set the FoV, the camera zooms very slowly and is neither designed nor supported for ongoing optical zoom functionality for daily monitoring.

The combination of these features make setup easy and essentially eliminates problems in focusing or setting up the FoV.

Update: This original generation is being replaced by the P336x series and the P3384 WDR camera.
