While Verint's overall revenue grew more than 10% in Q1 2012, their video surveillance division's revenue shrank by 5%.

Verint explained the drop:

"The decrease was primarily attributable to a $1.4 million decrease in product revenue due primarily to a reduction in volume of product deliveries to a large existing customer, partially offset by an increase in product deliveries to other customers, in the three months ended April 30, 2012."

By comparison, in 2011, Verint's video surveillance revenue grew 4% to $140 Million total for the year.

Since 2008, Verint's surveillance revenue has trended down, being as high as $147 Million in 2008 and now on pace for less than $130 Million in 2012. In the meantime, fast growing IP video entrants growing robustly are catching up and moving ahead of the former leader.
